Conclusion The Canon XHG1s has CCDs with excellent resolution in both brightness and in color.The dynamic behavior can be changed to outstanding values with knee, noise suppression and -3dB gain, which combined with the sober colors ensures a very clean image impression.Only the lens with its 20x zoom shows occasional distortion and chromatic aberrations.Partly due to much noise, the XH G1s is only "good" in low-light situations.The Canon XL H1S has excellent CCDs, which exploit the resolution potential of HDV in many areas.In combination with very good dynamic behavior and the consistent colors this provides a very good image impression.The standard lens is not satisfying: for less distortion and chromatic aberrations as well as for more wide angle pros need to go for an additional (more expensive) optics.Also the surcharge for professional jacks seems disproportionate.
