Pros + small and sturdy
+ good automatic modes

Cons - few manual controls
- feeble low-light properties
- sparse wide angle
- few connectors

Conclusion The Sony TG7 deserves praisal for its compact built and sturdy exterior. But one needs to be confident in the (albeit quite good) automatic functions. If you shoot professionally, with this camcorder you will miss manual controls. Also there are few connetors (in- and outputs) and the low-light capabilities are mediocre.Albeit as a take-it-everywhere-with-you kind of camera the Sony is fine - and that is just what it aspires to be.The GPS-functionality is a fine added gimmick. In good lighting conditions the TG7 shoots fairly good FullHD video. No focus ring, no manual controls, no viewfinder, no audio connections, and crippled manual values are inaccessibly hidden in colorful menus.Analog output is NTSC-only, and a new video format is used that is even worse to edit than AVCHD.The sharpness is achieved through extreme contourCompared to Sony, Panasonic and Canon the codec shows even more artifacts.
