Pros + focus and exposure control via touchscreen works well
+ focus ring replacement is OK
+ Good image in terms of sharpness and color
+ Very sharp display
+ More manual 3D control than its direct competitors
Cons - no manual shutter control
- the owner is put under tutelage
- operation concept
- Image characteristics can not be changed
Conclusion In terms of picture quality the gap between the best Canon-cams in this class ist almost leveled, and the handling offers many unique features (camera control ring, focus and exposure via touchscreen, high-resolution LCD), which can´t be found elsewhere (yet). If Sony would allow the user to manually set the shutter (and with meaningful numerical values), this camera would really rockIn terms of image quality, handling and also the display the JVC is not quite on par with the HDR-TD10.Though the TD1 in return offers a little more manual control, this is partly hidden by an unnecessarily complicated operation. Also the non-changeable, rather extreme color settings are certainly not for everyone.A firmware update could address these criticisms, however, and make the camera much more attractive.Hopefully the standards-compliant MVC implementation will be adopted by more software makers over time.
