Conclusion Thanks to the excellent resolution of its CMOS the Canon HV30 makes almost full use of the HDV-system in brightness as well as colorNoticeable is the high resolution in diagonals.In lowlight situations the performance is only average.The lens shows little abberations, but offers only a small wide angle.Little wide angle, but the most natural image in this price range, average low-light performance, and even some useful manual control.With this offer Canon stays just below the 300 Euro threshold (internet prices), but still lies above the competition, who show other strengths and cost about 50 less. Hence, those looking for a camera in these price regions should make their decision based on tolerable weaknesses, which are distributed differently among the tested cameras.
