| Pros | + 50P Recording + Big wide angle + Very good low light behavior
| + professional handling + cheap workflow by using XDCAM EX on SDCH cards + flexible assignable
|
| Cons | - Image characteristics can not be changed
| - wide angle with slight distortions - poor low-light - display and viewfinder have a very low resolution
|
| Conclusion | The HXR-NX70 is a nice camera; with its external controls it makes Sony`s consumer technology interesting for pros also.In addition to the good light sensitivity the abberation correction is remarkable, since it is seldom found on professional cameras. The only real drawback is the fixed image characteristics, which can not be modified. The pricing is fair considering the XLR connectors and the dust and splash protection -- as long as you actually have use for these features...Otherwise a comparable image quality can be found in the consumer class for approximately one third of the price of the NX70. | In addition to the professional focus and features of the camera the XDCAM EX format persuades. The trade-off consists of the no longer up-to-date low-light capabilities, the narrow wide angle and the lens distortion. Also the image stabilizer, as well as the display and viewfinder seem a little out-dated..On the plus side of course you have to add the XLR jacks and the ND filter. In the price range of the estimated 2700 Euro though, these are no unique features, unless one does needs XDCAM EX recording or is looking for CCD sensors. |
