Pros Good wide angle
+ Professional controls
+ Real 50p-mode and variable frame rates
+ Very good image quality impression
+ Wide optics
+ handling well-conceived
+ Very well equipped
Cons - Menu buttons/distribution unergonomic
- Display
- Driver necessary for PC/Mac
- No full HDV-resolution
- DV-quality only average
Conclusion Unfortunately, with the AG-HVX200 Panasonic puts its focus on pixel shift instead of real CCD-resolution.This provides only satisfactory results in terms of luminance resolution. The color resolution is much better, in the SD-Modi (especially DVCPro50) the HVX200 is also very good.Image noise is increased by the delineation, therefore lowlight-images look somewhat unsettled. The image dynamic and the very good lens still make for a good image impression in HiDef, in the DVCPro50-mode it is very good. The Sony FX1 lacks CCDs with full HDV-resolution, which is visible at least in the horizontal resolution.Nevertheless, the subjective image impression is still very good due to the very good dynamic behavior with extremely little noise and the consistent color reproduction.Despite the comparatively large wide-angle, optical errors are within limits, only little distortion and chromatic aberrations can be detected. In low light situations the FX1 is just about good -- here too the low noise a plus point.
