Total score ? (maximal 570) | 422 | 400 |
| Pros | + Manual control over image characteristics + Low-Light Properties + Manual buttons, wheel and lens ring + Touch focus in manual mode
| + 50P Recording + Big wide angle + Good touch functions + Very good low light behavior
|
| Cons | - ND-filter function toothless - 4:2:2 codec is not "activated"
| - Image characteristics can not be changed - few image control options - Small (touch) screen
|
| Conclusion | In terms of manual control Canon leaves comparable consumer camcorders behind: the three custom keys, the dial and the lens ring make for the best camera operation we have seen for a long time in the price range under 1500 Euro (March 2011).The possibility to use touch focus in the manual mode is also a great plus. | The hardware configuration is quite interesting considering the price range. The sharp display could be somewhat larger though. The wide-angle with virtually no lens distorsion is unique. The Bildqualiät and the low light performance are also competitive. Those who can do without helpful things like histogram or changeable image characteristics get a nice piece of technology for a reasonable price. For ambitious filmmakers who want more control over their shooting the competition offers more value for the money. |
