Pros + Very good image quality impression
+ 20x zoom
+ handling well-conceived

+ 25p
Good wide angle
+ Professional controls
+ Real 50p-mode and variable frame rates
Cons -less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
- Menu buttons/distribution unergonomic
- Display
- Driver necessary for PC/Mac
Conclusion The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain.Unfortunately, with the AG-HVX200 Panasonic puts its focus on pixel shift instead of real CCD-resolution.This provides only satisfactory results in terms of luminance resolution. The color resolution is much better, in the SD-Modi (especially DVCPro50) the HVX200 is also very good.Image noise is increased by the delineation, therefore lowlight-images look somewhat unsettled. The image dynamic and the very good lens still make for a good image impression in HiDef, in the DVCPro50-mode it is very good.
