| Pros | + Excellent resolution in brightness and color + interchangeable lenses + 4 audio channels for HDV + Very well equipped
| + Very good image quality impression + 20x zoom + handling well-conceived HDMI out + 25p
|
| Cons | - unergonomical on the shoulder
| -less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
|
| Conclusion | The Canon XL H1A has excellent CCDs, which in some aspects tap the full resolution potential of HDV.In combination with very good dynamic behavior and the consistent colors this provides a very good image impression. The standard lens is not satisfying: for less distortion and chromatic aberrations as well as for more wide angle pros need to go for an additional (more expensive) optics. | The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain. |
