Pros + excellent image quality
+ Manual handling
+ Exceptionally well equipped
+ LowLight behavior
+ Very good image quality impression
+ 20x zoom
+ handling well-conceived
HDMI out
+ 25p
Cons - Expensive SxS-cards
-less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
Conclusion Almost everything that was criticized on the EX1 (mainly concerning the switches/buttons and ergonomics) has been addressed and improved. In its current form, it definitely still plays in the top league in terms of low light performance, handling and functionality, and with its 1/2-inch chip it is one of the "bigger" small ones. The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain.
