Pros + Very good image quality impression
+ 20x zoom
+ handling well-conceived
HDMI out
+ 25p
+ manual controls for shutter and aperture
+ factory setting adjustable
Cons -less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
- somewhat blurred compared with other HD video
Conclusion The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain.This cam shines with unusual (in this price category) manual controls and smart automatic modes and a touchscreen. But the small 1 chip sensor limits the picture quality too much.
