Conclusion The GZ-HM1 is leading in the race for sharpness in its 1000 Euro range of 2010 camcorders.Also in low light conditions the camera makes a good impression.In spite of its price tag it is not possible to adjust the colors, which is unfortunate because they remain a matter of taste and are sometimes even on the verge of being critical.The external controls will be interesting for people who like to manually adjust things and be in control.In addition to the inertia of the parameters, the user must decide if a fast white balance or the focus aids should be assigned to the custom key.Because for the other it means diving into the menue via laser touch.Also, the small wide angle is not very inspiring.The sharpness is only slightly below what is possible in this price range and the options for manual control are also quite ok.The touchscreen is a real improvement, so the problems with focus setting we used to citizise are gone.Since Sony offers more manual in this price range than they did before and both Sony and Panasonic have more wide angle, the HF S models of 2010 appear a little overpriced.
