| Pros | + Excellent resolution in brightness and color + exceptionally well equipped
| + Very good image quality impression + 20x zoom + handling well-conceived HDMI out + 25p
|
| Cons | - chromatic aberrations due to the lens
| -less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
|
| Conclusion | The Canon XHG1 has CCDs with excellent brightness and color resolution. The dynamic behavior can be changed to outstanding values with knee, noise suppression and -3dB gain, which combined with the sober colors ensures a very clean image impression.Only the lens with its 20x zoom shows occasional distortion and chromatic aberrations.Partly due to much noise, the XH G1 is only "good" in low-light situations. | The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain. |
