Pros + Best image quality is at the limit of FullHD
+ Many manual controls
HDMI out
+ good Display
Cons - fiddly operation
- too small wide-angle
- No Zebra
- Manual focus very poor
- bad color resolution
- SD-quality only average
Conclusion In this price class currently no rival offers better image quality and more controlsHowever, compromises must be made in terms of wide angle and in the handling, especially the focussing. For a AVCHD model the Sony HDR-SR1 offers only average brightness resolution, the color resolution is beneath SD-level.Occasionally significant (colored) moirees can be seen on fine details. The subjective image impression is good to satisfactory, which is partly due to the good dynamics behavior with little noise and few smear-effects.Color-wise the SR1 is pleasantly coherent. The wide angle is very limited for indoors, but on the other hand there are only few lens errors.in low-light situations the SR1 is satisfactory.
