Pros + Very good image quality impression
+ 20x zoom
+ handling well-conceived
HDMI out
+ 25p
Good wide angle
+ Professional controls
+ genuine 720/50p mode and a variable framerate
+ Sharpness and colour at the upper AVCHD limit
+ Many manual controls
+ 1080p50
Pros
Cons -less Wide-angle than FX1/A1/HVX200
- low sharpness due to pixel shift
- P2 cards are more expensive than tape
- 4:3 display with low resolution
- setting focus manually is a little complicated
- low resolution display
Cons
Conclusion The Sony HVR-V1 makes the most of the three 1/4-inch CMOS-converter .The brightness resolution is good, the color resolution lacks somewhat. The progressive mode offers more vertical resolution, but shows occasional color artifacts.Low noise and little smear effects together with excellent automatics make for a very good subjective image impression. The 20x lens shows comparatively few errors like aberrations or distortion, but the wide-angle could be larger for this price range.Lowlight performance of the FX7 is good, the plus points being low noise and the optional hyper-gain.Panasonic´s AG-HPX171E scores with its handling and the Leica lens shows very little chromatic aberrations. Thanks to finally cheaper recording cards the AG-HPX171E can be seen as an allround-model suited for both documentary and fiction shooting. But pixel counting searchers for ultimate sharpness will be happier with other models, as will those who do not wish to invest in P2 cards. The resolution of the display is too low.Costing 200 Euro less, the SD600 lacks a lot compared to the SD707 (viewfinder, lens ring, accessory shoe, mic and headphone jacks). Also the display is smaller and setting the focus manually is harder without a lens ring. But still, it is an interesting camera for those filming in automatic mode. Conclusion
