Pros + very good low-light sensitivity
+ iris control ring and touch-focus work together very nicely
+ Many manual controls
+ manual controls for shutter and aperture
+ factory setting adjustable
Pros
Cons + very few possibilites for manual control
- focusing is hard
- no 1/25 sec. shutter speed in cinema mode
- small wide angle
- no microphone and headphone jacks
- no accessory shoe
- no filter thread
- display resolution only average
Cons
Conclusion The Low-light picture quality is very good and sets a new standard for the sub 1000 euro camcorder classBut there is no histogram, no zebra, no shutter-control, no focus assist and no picture adjustmentThis is sad, especially because Sony could probably unlock these functions via firmwareCompared with its predecessor Canon indeed could enhance ist low light capabilitiesThe high photo pixel resolution results in a good but not unique video resolution and focussing is harder with a Canon model compared with a Sony or Panasonic. In return the cam has got a lot of interesting controls and features ehich are only topped by PanasonicThe options for manual control surpass those of competing models.Hardly any lens distorsion, good sharpness and wide angle in combination with acceptable low-light capabilities: that is a novelty in this price region. However, there is zero connectivity in terms of microphones etc. Conclusion
