- handling
- wide angle
- 60Hz modi only
 Cons
Conclusion With little wide angle, small sensors, lean low-light performance and few manual functions, it is hard to see any reason to choose one of the smaller Canon models, given a budget of 500 Euro. The 2010 competition simply has more to offer.Audio-only recording, Xacti-Library-Function and adjustable ISO are features that the more established rivals lack.Furthermore this camera offers great manual control in combination with the display of relevant parameters such as focus-distance or shutter.Even the low-light performance of the camera is remarkable for this price class.Nonetheless the camera has several flaws, eg. the lacking support for the european 50 HZ standard.Due to the bumpy image stabilisation and the poor automatics the camera is not very suited for newbies who want a simple camera for holiday trips.Ambitious videographers on the other hand will not be able to fully appreciate the manual control due to the handling, and the small wide angle will surely be a nuisance. In terms of sharpness the camera can only compete with its rivals in the 30p-mode.While the new Exmor CMOS technology and the Bionz signal processor provide great results with the SR-12, their benefits are leveled by the smaller chip area of the TG3.Demanding filmmakers will find too many compromises in terms of lowlight, ports and manual controls, preventing them from using the camera seriously.Ambitious filmmakers on the other hand will like the nice interface via touch screen. Conclusion
